Winter teas for your skin

As the temperature is cooling down and we’re experiencing more chilly starts, we are loving to cozy up with our favourite cup of hot tea.

With incredible antioxidant benefits to fight free radicals, not to mention a huge boost in hydration levels, tea can become your new Winter friend (if it isn’t already your bestie!).

We’re sharing our four favourite teas to keep you warm and add a glow to your skin all Winter long.

Chamomile:

With its sweet scent and flavour, chamomile is a great option if you’re new to herbal tea and looking for an easy place to start. Its benefits for sleep and relaxation have been shouted far and wide but we love it for its healing abilities. It has natural anti-inflammatory properties which make it fantastic if you suffer from angry breakouts, eczema or dry skin.

Ginger:

If you haven’t tried brewing a fresh ginger tea, you’re missing out! In Ayurvedic medicine, Ginger is believed to be an important detoxifying agent. It will help maintain your skin’s natural glow and fight off any cold and flu that comes your way.

Lemongrass:

Along with it’s warm and invigorating flavour, lemongrass is a brilliant pep-me-up throughout Winter. It helps to detoxify the body and has been found to aid in breakouts and blemishes.

Kombucha:

A fermented tea with live bacteria, Kombucha tea is a powerhouse for your skin. It detoxes and hydrates as well as improves the clarity, texture, and elasticity of the skin. That means smoother skin, fewer lines and blemishes and an overall bright and glowing complexion all Winter long!

Our favourite part about brewing herbal tea?

You can use the same concoction as a topical treatment for your face!

Once you have allowed your tea to cool, try placing the chamomile around the eyes to soothe and reduce puffiness. Or perhaps you’d like to use lemongrass as a simple toner/treatment for breakouts. Just be sure to avoid ingredients with which you have known allergies to and do not apply to broken, sensitive or damaged skin.

Happy sipping!
