How griffin+row Hydrate works

Dehydrated skin does not absorb water well, just like soil or a sponge don’t absorb water easily when they are too dry. Have a look at the experiment below:

Left side – without Hydrate: Water sits on the dry sponge like water sits on the surface of your skin when it is dehydrated. Water drops sit on the dry skin for a long time until they are absorbed. Right side – with Hydrate: This side has pre-hydrated with Hydrate. As you can see, drops of water go straight in. Hydrate prepares the skin to receive the beneficial ingredients of your moisturiser by reducing the surface tension on your skin and preparing the way for the absorption of your moisturiser.

You can repeat this experiment at home with a dried-out cosmetics sponge or with a dry sponge purchased from an art supplies store.

Dehydration is a primary cause of premature ageing. Long-term dehydration leads to lines and wrinkles. Dehydrated skin simply doesn’t function properly. The layers of the skin resemble a “brick and mortar concept”. The cells are the bricks and the intercellular matrix is the mortar. The natural process of the skin is to release NMFs (Natural Moisturising Factors) into the intercellular matrix during the cell renewal process. NMFs consist of amino acids, lactic acids, urea, and many other compounds, which naturally bind moisture to the skin. Unfortunately, this process is often impaired for various reasons such as ageing, diet, stress, pollution, inadequate skin care, etc.
