An essence derived from a bioactive fungus with anti-allergenic, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and topically active polysaccharides (chains of sugars which benefit immune cell function). Used extensively in Eastern medicine for renewal.

Aloe vera leaves secrete a clear gel that can be applied as a moisturiser, to heal wounds and to soothe skin. Also acts as a water-binding agent for the skin, because of its polysaccharide and sterol content. Traditionally applied to burns, such as sunburn, to cool and soothe the skin.
Rich in essential fatty acids, macadamia nut oil is used as an emollient to sooth and soften the skin. High in phytosterols, which are protective, aid skin recovery and help reducing inflammation and itchiness.

Avocado oil provides vital skin nourishment as it is rich in essential fatty acids, vitamins A, B1, D, E and beta carotene. It's an anti-ageing ingredient due to its deeply moisturising properties and high vitamin content.
Shea butter is used as an emollient for soothing the skin and particularly for improving the appearance of dry skin. It has anti-inflammatory properties and naturally absorbs UVB rays, therefore adding a slight SPF.
Rose hips, the fruit of roses, have long been used for the treatment of the common cold, as they are high in vitamin C - several times higher than oranges. They are also high in essential fatty acids, particularly omega 3, which makes them an ideal anti-ageing ingredient.
Lavender is primarily used for its scent, although it is also said to have anti-microbial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties. In addition, lavender has remarkable regenerative properties for the skin, and is often applied to intact skin during treatment for burns.

If you’ve ever had Earl Grey tea, you’ve had bergamot. The lovely orange blossom aroma of Earl Grey tea comes from the addition of dried bergamot peel or bergamot oil to the tea leaves. Being a citrus oil, it’s astringent, antibacterial and adds a clean, sweet, citrus aroma.
Orange oil is great for nourishing dry and irritated skin, as well as being extensively used in aromatherapy for its uplifting, clean and sweet citrus aroma. Being a citrus fruit, its oil is still astringent and antibacterial, although to a lesser degree to bergamot and lemon.
Grapefruit seed extract is an ideal preservative due to its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. Made using the extracts of grapefruit seeds and pulp, it is as gentle as a preservative can be and fully biodegradable.
Sweet almond oil comes exclusively from the edible variety of almonds, cultivated for their sweet taste. It's an oil that's light in texture and therefore can easily penetrate deep into the skin. Almond oil can be used safely on sensitive skin, and it is often used in baby oils, due to its mild and hypoallergenic nature.
Rose essential oil is an expensive ingredient, due to the lower yield of oil from the delicate petals, in comparison to say the oils available in the peel of citrus fruits. Historically used for its hydrating benefits, the use of rose essential oil goes back to ancient times.
Soybean contains the essential fatty acid, linoleic acid (omega 6) which is required for healthy cell membranes and the proper barrier function of the skin. Soybean in skincare is highly recommended to women during pre- and postmenopausal phases when the lipid content of the skin is dramatically reduced. Also contains B vitamins, and vitamins E and K.
