Mid-year skin goals

We’re already in the month of July and we’re betting some of those skin care resolutions you made back in January have slipped a little. This is the perfect time of year to re-set, re-align and get back on the right track when it comes to looking after your skin. The basis of good skincare is quality natural ingredients and consistency. So, we’ve got 7 skincare habits to focus on for the second half of the year.
  1. Practice your five-step regime morning and night.
When it comes to having radiant, glowing skin, you have to show up. All-too-often, people feel overwhelmed and skip their routines entirely, but griffin+row have designed a skincare regime that includes just five quick steps using five very simple products. We’ve taken half the work out of your routine so that you can get back on track and stay there. It’s time to cleanse and hydrate you skin morning and night, no excuses!
  1. Moisture after showering.
Did you know that post-shower is the most effective time to moisturise your body? By applying your lotion or cream straight away, it can help to lock in hydration before it disappears as your skin dries. Keep your natural body moisturiser and your griffin+row skincare close by so that you can apply as soon as you’re out of the water!
  1. Drink your water.
It’s one of the most common new year resolutions and we thought we’d remind you six months in as well! Most people are not drinking enough H2O throughout the day. Water keeps your body hydrated, aids in digestion and helps everything run smoothly so it’s imperative to boost those hydration levels! Check out our tips on increasing your water intake if you’re looking for more inspiration!
  1. Go natural.
Our skin is our largest organ, so why would you want to smother it with toxins and harmful chemicals? It’s time to get serious about what you are putting on your skin. At griffin+row, our products start with our ingredients to ensure the best quality and effectiveness in your skincare. Our skincare doesn’t contain harmful chemicals and is free from artificial colours and fragrances, harmful chemicals, parabens and animal products. Switch to griffin+row skincare and be sure you’re using only the best ingredients for your skin throughout the year.
  1. Exfoliate regularly.
We can lose between 30,000 and 40,000 skin cells every minute – that’s up to 50 million skin cells a day! Whilst our body does have its natural shedding mechanism, that means that we can have tens of thousands of cells sitting on the surface of our skin at any given moment just waiting to be removed! The problem is that, when they aren’t taken away (and sometimes trapped by makeup and excess oil) these cells can build up in our pores and lead to breakouts, uneven texture and a general lacklustre appearance. Vigorously scrubbing using harsh exfoliators does not benefit your skin as all you are doing is damaging the healthy cells beneath. Try incorporating an exfoliating cloth (such as the griffin+row Exfoliate cloth) which removes dead cells, oil and debris from your pores and is gentle enough to use morning and night. This means your skin can breathe, is less congested and is able to absorb products more effectively.
  1. Steer clear from touching your face.
It’s been found that the average person can touch their face anywhere between 2,000 and 3,000 times a day! From scratching an itch to resting your chin or mindlessly rubbing your forehead, our hands seem to be magnetically pulled toward our faces. The problem is, our hands make contact with more germs, bacteria and dirt than anywhere else on our body. From touching a hand rail on the train, to handing over money for a coffee or opening a door at work, they are constantly touching areas that are breeding grounds for contamination. Every time we touch our face, we’re transferring whatever is on our hands which can wreak havoc on the health of our skin. Try to be mindful of how often you’re resting your head in your hands, or reaching to touch your face. And always wash your hands before starting your skincare regime – you don’t want all of that bacteria swished around your face!
  1. Clean your makeup brushes.
Ask any professional makeup artist and they’ll tell you, most people just aren’t washing their makeup tools regularly enough. While it can seem like a chore, every time we apply foundation and leave it sitting in your brush, it becomes a breeding ground for bacteria which will be happily transferred to your face the next time you apply makeup. Make a weekly habit of washing your brushes – especially the ones which you use to apply liquid product. Your skin will love you for it!
